Hibiscus Sorrel Sun Tea Recipe (no cook method)

Enjoy my version of a yummy and health-promoting Hibiscus Sorrel Sun Tea!

This recipe counters the summer heat (pitta energy in Ayurveda) with sweet, bitter, and astringent tastes, I think you’ll enjoy.

Feel free to play and make it your own!

Ingredients:

Warmth from the Sun on a sunny day

(2)Tablespoons Hibiscus flowers (dried)

(5 -10) Mint Leaves (fresh) crushed

(2) Inches Ginger root (fresh) chopped

(1) Inch Turmeric root (fresh) chopped

(1) Teaspoon Black Peppercorns (whole)

(½) Cinnamon stick

(1) Lime (fresh)

Directions:

  1. Combine Hibiscus flowers, Mint leaves, Ginger root, Turmeric root, Black Peppercorns, and Cinnamon into a clean mason jar.

  2. Add fresh/filtered water to fill the jar.

  3. Cover jar and set it in the sun for 2-3 hours or until a dark red color is achieved. Swish the contents around in the jar every hour to encourage infusion.

  4. Fill a tall glass with ice, add the Hibiscus concentrate to about half-full, then add fresh, cold water to top off the glass.

  5. Add a sprig of fresh mint.

  6. Add any fruit you love, watermelon, strawberries, and muddle it around in your glass to release the natural sweetness and flavor.

  7. Squeeze the juice of ½ lime into your glass and enjoy!
